32 Units in Three Gorges Hydropower Station Were Put into Operation

On 15 o'clock in May 23rd, the 27th unit in the right bank underground power station of Three Gorges Hydropower Station successfully completed 72 hours continuous test run with load. Thus, the 32 units in Three Gorges Hydropower Station were fully put into operation. The Three Gorges Project has successfully realized its 22.5 billion KW designed generation capacity.

With the 32 units in Three Gorges Hydropower Station put into operation to generate electricity, the electric network in Central China adjusted its scheduling mode, actively to accept hydropower electricity. Recently, there rained several times in wide range in Central China Area, especially the rain in Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei Hunan, Jiangxi basin and the Three Gorges Reservoir is heavily. For this reason, the Central China electric network suspended 551 KW thermal power unit capacities in one week. At the present time, the amount of thermal power units in operation in Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan and Chongqing almost reached the minimum system.

In the face of many transmission lines around Three Gorges Hydropower Station were overhauled, the hydropower capacity is increasing while the thermal power capacity almost reaching the minimum and some other multiple difficulties, under the overall plans and co-ordinate of National Electric Power Control Center, State Grid Corporation of Central China Department actively coordinated with Hubei Province Electric Power Company, which ensured the 27th unit can smoothly combines with the electric network and adjusted according to the plan, and successfully completed the 72 hours test run.
