Brief Introduction of Chongqing
Chongqing is one of the four municipalities directly under the Central Government. It is located in the southwest of China. It is the economic center and financial center of the Upper Reaches Area of Yangtze River. It is a processing base of the inland export commodities. It is an important base of China's modern manufacturing industry. It is a demonstration zone of ecological civilization and the shipping center of Upper Reaches Area of Yangtze River.
Chongqing has a long history. It is a historical and cultural city announced by the State Council. It is called Mountainous City since there are a lot of mountains here. It is also called Fog City for there are many foggy days in a year.
Chongqing – Geographical Location
Chongqing is a landlocked city in southwestern of China. It is located at the eastern margin of Sichuan Basin with Hubei Province and Hunan Province in its east, Guizhou Province in its south, Sichuan Province in its west and Shaanxi Province in its north. It covers an area of 82400 square kilometers in which the main urban area takes 647.78 square kilometers.

Chongqing enjoys a sub-tropical monsoon climate. The annual average temperature here is 18 ℃, the lowest temperature in winter averages 6-8 ℃, and the highest temperature in July averages more than 35℃. The extreme highest temperature reaches 43℃ and the extreme lowest temperature is -2℃. The total sunshine hours is about 1000-1200 hours every year. It is warm in winter and hot in summer. It has a long frost-free period. It has abundant rainfall; the annual rainfall is about 1000-1450 millimeters. There are a lot of night rains when spring is changing into summer.
Chongqing – Rivers
There are many rivers flow through Chongqing: Yangtze River, Jialing River, Wu River, Fu River, Qi River, Daning River and so on. Yangtze River flows through Chongqing from the west to the east. It crossed three anticlines of Wu Mountain and formed the worldly famous Three Gorges - Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge (in Hubei Province).
