Shibaozhai represents one of the gems of Chinese architecture along the Yangtze River. From afar, the protruding 220-meter (720 feet) hill can appear to resemble a jade seal. The creation of the hill is attributed to the goddess Nuwo, who caused a rockslide while she was redecorating the sky after a fierce battle between two warring dukes. A red pavilion hugs one side of this rock. Its tall yellow entrance gate is decorated with lions and dragons.

The temple at the top was built during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong (1736-1796). In 1956 three more stories were added. The rising water of the river as a result of the Three Gorges Dam project has surrounded the pagoda, which has been preserved with a tiny dam of its own. No nails were used in the construction of this magnificent structure, appropriately named "The Pearl of the Yangtze".

Zhang Fei Temple, also named Zhang Huanhou Temple, located at the mountain waist of Feifeng (Flying Phoenix) Mountain, opposite to Yunyang County. Zhang Fei Temple was built to commemorate Zhang Fei who was a famous general of Shu and Han Dynasties. It was built in the late Shu and Han Dynasties, and repaired and enlarged for many times in Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Until now, it has experienced over 1700 years. Now, the construction area of the temple is 1400 square meters, and most parts of the temple were built after the flood in 1870. There are over 200 pieces of calligraphies, paintings, inscriptions and some other precious cultural relics protected in Zhang Fei Temple.
