Qinhuai Scenery Belt -Introduction of Qinhuai District

Qinhuai District is located in the southeast of Nanjing City. It got its name for Qinhuai River flows through the district. Six streets (Confucius Temple Street, Yinhongyuan Street, Shuangtang Street, Diaoyutai Street, Zhonghuamen Street and Qinhong Street) and one town (Red Flower Town) under its jurisdiction. It has 111 resident committee and 8 administrative villages. It covers an area of 22.34 square kilometers and has a pupolation of 0.23 million. It is well known as "a beautiful place in south of Yangtze River" since it is a place with beautiful environment, convenient communication, a lot of talents, and merchants.

Since the reform and opening-up, especially in the recent five years, the District Committee and District Government lead the broad masses of the people in the district implement the strategy of "tourism and business new zone" under the guide of Deng Xiaoping Theory, focus on economic construction and motivated by further reform. They emancipate the mind unceasingly and forge ahead with determination. They expedite the step of enterprise reform, speed up regional economic development, increase the intensity of urban development and management, and strengthen the spiritual civilization construction. The economy and social undertakings keep a sustained, rapid, and healthy development momentum under their efforts.

In 1998, Qinhuai District's GDP reached 0.85 billion RMB. It completed a fiscal revenue of 0.196 billion RMB, in which the local financial revenue is 0.121 billion RMB. Those grew by 1.89, 3.61 and 3.56 times compared with 1993. The annual growth reached to 23.6%, 35.7% and 35.4% respectively.

In recent years, Qinhuai District proceeded from actual conditions of the district, made full use of the regional advantages, and adjusted the economic development strategy opportunely, then step into the new century with a new look.

Qinhuai Scenery Belt -Confucius Temple

Confucius Temple is a temple dedicated to Confucius. It was built in Song Dynasty. It is located beside the Gongyuan Street on the north coast of Qinhuai River. The Confucius Temple took the Qinhuai River in front of the temple as its Semicircular Pool and took the brick-stone wall in the south of the river as its screen (it is 110 meters long and is the longest screen in China). There are Juxing Pavilion and Sile Pavilion in front of the temple on the north coast of the river. There are Lingxing Gate, Dacheng Gate, Dacheng Hall, Mingde Hall and Zunjing Tower on the central axis. Besides, the Kuixing Tower is in the east of the temple. With the development of time, the Confucius Temple has become a place for cultural activities.
