Introduction of Shennong Peak

Shennong Peak is known as the First Peak in Central China. The clouds and the fog forming a thick veil covering on the peak, it is difficult to see what it is looks like. Only in a sunny day of the summer or fall, when the fog scatter away, standing on the peak we can get a panoramic view. On the top of Shennong Peak, exposed rock, towering stone forest, moss, ferns make up an original chaotic scene. But on the mountainside, either the steep south slope, or gentle north slope the green meadow has distinctively split into three levels: the first level the bamboo forest seems like a solid walls guarding the fastness; the second level is verdant fir forest, towering in the wind and snow ; the last level is gorgeous azalea forest.

Legend of Shennong Peak

There is a beautiful legend about Shennong Peak. In the ancient time, at the foot of the hill there was a pair of young man and woman. The man is handsome and brave, the woman is beautiful and industrious, they love each other very much. One day the head of the bandit of the mountain Ma Huang knew the couple, and he robbed the young woman , compelled her to be his wife. Then he caught the young man forced him as the male servant. After the two people heard the news and then they escaped. Ma Huang chased after them to the top of the mountain, using poisoned arrows to kill them. When Emperor Shennong discovered that, he threw a handful bamboo rice suddenly it became countless bamboo arrow stuck Ma Huang in the bamboo forest and then he became a leech. Later, Emperor Shennong touched the couple, the young man became a vigorous and straight fir, the young woman became a gorgeous azalea. From then on, they always together and never apart.
