The White Emperor City is towering up at the entrance of Qutang Gorge. It relies on the Eightfold Maze at the west side; while the other three sides are surrounded by water. Three Gorges Tour – Dachang Ancient Town

A long yell can call back the naughty children at far; the pale yellow light which comes out from one light can lighten up the whole street in the town. In deep mountain, in gorge, at night, the 1700 years old mini ancient town is kept in a specific space like a clear silhouette: the grey bricks and tiles, cornices, ornamented columns and beams and wooden doors. The ancient dolly way outside the town is also leading to Qin and Chu, but there do not have the gurgling sound of water, which is unsteadied by the spray lapping on the pier. "One light can lighten up the whole town; one speaks at one gate, another one can hear at other gates." That is the best protected ancient architecture group in end of Ming Dynasty and early of Qing Dynasty in Three Gorges area. The Dachang Ancient Town was removed to its present site in its original scene after the Three Gorges Project constructed.
