In Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period, the political center of the Ba Kingdom was in Chongqing (it was named Jiangzhou in ancient). As the good management of ancestors in Shang Dynasty and West Zhou Dynasty, and it also absorbed large amount of new things from Chu Kingdom and the Qin Culture in central plain, the political, economy and culture got great development; even the military power also became stronger. For example, in the tomb group of Zhongxian, there found 30 Chu tombs of Warring States Period and with some weapons in it. To sum up, in this period, the Ba Kingdom was heavily attacked by Chu Kingdom, and which made the royal of Ba Kingdom removed for several times. We can say that half of the Ba territory was occupied by Chu Kingdom at that time.

Yangtze River History during Warring States Period – Ethnic Groups

There were several ethnic groups and races lived in Yangtze River Three Gorges area in Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period. These ethnic groups and races were named "Manming" (Savage People) by the people in central plain. Among these ethnic groups, some of them were strong, while some of them were weak.

In this period, people in Yangtze River Three Gorges area have controlled some techniques about developing and making salt. But, he battle between Ba Kingdom and Chu Kingdom also affected the salt industry development.

In the late of Warring States Period, the Qin Kingdom in western area took the Ba Kingdom and Chu Kingdom. From then on, the Ba Kingdom, Chu Kingdom and Shu Kingdom in Yangtze River Three Gorges area were controlled by Qin Kingdom.
