Yangtze River Weather – Introduction of Rainy Season

In the middle and down stream of the Yangtze River, from the middle of June to early of July in every year is rainy season. During this time, the weather will be gloomy for several days, and the rain will last for several days without stop. The continuous rain, high temperature and high humidity are the main features of rainy season.

Yangtze River Weather – Features of Rainy Season

The Yangtze River weather is greatly different from other places on the same latitude.

The rainy season refers to the weather phenomenon in a specific district and specific season. According to research, Eurasia is located in the area between 20N to 30N, where is the area controlled by subtropical high or westerlies. The west of the land is controlled by the down draft of subtropical south pressure in summer, so the weather in summer is sunny and hot; while it is affected by westerlies in winter, the warm and humid air from Atlantic will form large amount of rain, making weather become more moderate and rainy. This is the Mediterranean climate.

On the east of the land, the weather is controlled by west part of subtropical high in summer. The descending air was dry, but absorbs large amount of water vapor from the sea, and bring plenty of rain, form subtropical humid climate. As the contrast of sea and land is very strong, there formed special monsoon climate. The feature of the monsoon climate is that plenty of rain in summer and dry in winter. It is completely different from the Mediterranean climate.

Compare with other countries on the same latitude, the Yangtze River weather is also greatly different from others. On the middle part of American East bank, there will not appear long rainy days around the summer monsoon coming. So, people will not feel very hot, and the molds hardly appear. We can see that the rainy season in the same latitude is also different. Hence, in the world, only the both banks of the Yangtze River- the area about 29N to 33N, and the southeast of Japan and south part of Korean peninsula will appear rainy season. So, the rainy season is a specific weather phenomenon of East Asia Region. While in China, the rainy season is a specific weather phenomenon in middle and down stream of the Yangtze River.
