Brief Introduction of Yangtze River
Yangtze River, the longest river of Asia, a total length of 6394 kilometers. It originates in Geladandong Mountain in Danggula Mountain Range. Yangtze River is the third longest river in the world only after the Nile in Africa and Amazon River in South America. The river basin covers an area of 1,808,500 square kilometers(not including Huaihe drainage area), occupies about 1/5 of the total land area of China. It is called the "mother river" along with the Yellow River. The Yangtze River, the Great Wall,Mount Huangshan and the Yellow River are the symbolic attractions of China.
Yangtze River has a long history, it not only cultivated the Chinese Cultivation but also the Chinese nation. It is one of the birthplaces of World's Three Largest Ancient Cultivations.
Geography of Yangtze River
Yangtze River drainage about 3,219 kilometers from the west to east, 966 kilometers from the north to south. Yangtze River flow over Tibetan Plateau - Qinghai - Sichuan - Tibet - Yunnan - Chongqing - Hubei - Hunan - Jiangxi - Anhui - Jiangsu - Shanghai - the East China Sea. The population distribution in Yangtze River drainage area is not asymmetry; the most densely populated area is in central China, the riverside area in eastern China and its tributaries plans; the most sparsely populated place is the western plateau area. The 3/4 flow path through the mountainous area. Yalong River, Min River, Jialing River, Tuo River, Wu River, Xiang River, Han River, Gan River, Qingge River, Huangpu River are the important tributaries of Yangtze River. Among them, Han River is the longest one. The following rivers are in the north of Yangtze River: Yalong River, Min River, Jialing River and Han River. The following rivers are in the south of Yangtze River: Wu River, Xiang River, Yuan River and Huangpu River. Danjiangkou Reservoir in the upper middle Han River is the water source place of middle South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
Agriculture of Yangtze River
The drainage area of Yangtze River is China's huge granary, the grain production accounted for almost half of the country, including 70 % rice production. Besides, there are many other crops, such as cotton, wheat, barley, corn, beans and so on.
